1946-01-21: Arrived in San Fran. Cliff Schaffer, Glenn Forgay, and Francis Miller transfer off Lowndes.
1946-01-22: Vincent Rizzo transferred off the Lowndes.
1946-01-23: Moored next to USS Prometheus.
1946-01-24: Moored next to USS Prometheus (AR-3) at San Fran. anchorage #9, berth #18.
1946-01-25: Completed below deck insoections.
1946-01-26: Fred Gideon detached from Lowndes.
1946-01-27: 3 camels between Lowndes and Prometheus.
1946-01-28: Burning truck and anchor lights.
1946-01-29: Collision with LST-168 in San Fran Bay.
1946-01-30: Engine room is on repair orders.
1946-01-31: James Chilcote,Alonzo Hodgson,and Arvil Sefers detached from the Lowndes on January 31, 1946.
1946-02-02: Observed sunrise at 0713.
1946-02-08: On way from San Francisco for Balboa, Canal Zone (Panama Canal).
1946-02-12: Man over board drill.
1946-02-13: Abandon ship drill.
1946-02-14: Abandon ship drill.
1946-02-16: In Panama Canal
1946-02-17: Anchored in berth 23 in Limon Bay, Canal Zone.
1946-02-22: Left Limon Bay for Norfolk, Virginia.
1946-02-23: Lowndes cuts the Atlantic for the first time.
1946-02-24: Strong Strom
1946-02-26: All engines stop. Leak in main air injector.
1946-02-28: Arrived at Pier #9 Newport News, VA.
1946-03-04: Many leave the Lowndes:

1946-03-15: William Taylor, Herbert Kears, and Sherwood Johnson leave the Lowndes.
1946-03-16: D. Bartlett gets Navy Commendation .
1946-03-19: Commenced getting a full head of steam on #2 boiler.
1946-03-23: R. Shy, and Harold Castine leave Lowndes.
1946-03-25: Left Hampton Rds to Norfolk, Virginia.
1946-03-26: Rat guards in place on all lines. Receiving Telephone service from the dock.
1946-03-27: Moved to new birth #35.
1946-03-29: Unloaded all ammunition. Port boom falls damaging ship.
1946-03-30: Leland Snider is detached this day.
1946-04-02: Back to Hampton Roads, VA.
1946-04-06: Underway to Craney Island fuel dock to commenced defueling. Back to Hampton Roads.
1946-04-09: All Boats transferred from Lowndes
1946-04-10: Moved to Pier #5 berth #35, Portsmouth, Virginia. APA-159 on port side, APA-101 on other side.
1946-04-11: Many leave Lowndes:
F. Brinkman, W. Flagg, H. Leick, C. Martin, E. Mckellar, H. Moore, and
W. Ramsey.
1946-04-15: Debarked all crew and officers.
1946-04-16: Fire on APA-101 (next to Lowndes).
1946-04-17: Many detached from Lowndes (see below). Decommissioning ceremony. End Decklog.
